Wife of John Jehu Baker; Mother of Endymian, Henry, Mary, Parmelia (Tuckness), Moses, Williamson, Melinda (Adams), and Terry Baker.

Family Contribution:

Wife of John Jehuennes Baker, mother of Endymian, Terry, Malinda, Moses, Williamson, Parmelia, Henry and Polly Baker who emigrated as adults and some with children/extended families on one wagon train. Elizabeth and John are believed to have emigrated on an earlier train. Born Sept. 4, 1791. At age 62, she was considered an elderly emigrant for such a crossing. And her husband was 67 at crossing. All family members took adjoining DLCs. Elizabeth & John's was on upper Bell Road and was chosen because of the huge stands of Douglas Fir trees. Based on Tennessee logic, the best farm land is where the trees are the largest. Little did they know that the opposite is often the case in Oregon and with Douglas Fir trees. Their farm turned out to be rather poor soil and littered with boulders. The other Baker family members were more fortunate in their DLC choices. At the site of their spring, a locust grove grows as offspring of a locust sapling brought from Missouri in their wagon.
