Son of Raymond and Anna Baker, grandson of Alison & Florence Baker and Christian and Mary Reissner. Great grandson of Endymian and Sarah Baker, Oregon Trail Emigrants of 1853.
Alumnus of Corral Creek School (taught by Inza Wood), Wilsonville School (after Corral Creek was closed in the early 1930's), and West Linn High School (Varsity Wrestling). Enlisted in U.S. Coast Guard in 1942 and served in the Pacific Theatre for all of WWII, including surviving the sinking of his ship. Upon return from the Service, married and purchased a portion of the Alison Baker farm. A life-long farmer, stubbornly passionate about nature and preservation, enjoyed tinkering and serving as the family historian. Member of The Grange and VFW in Sherwood and founding member of BPOE, Sherwood.
Husband of Dorothy (nee' Mack of Tigard). Three children, four grandchildren.
As the youngest child of the family, was known as Buddy as a child and went by Bud throughout his adult life, with many people unaware of his given name "Lowell."

Had three siblings: Harold, Pearl and Opal. Parents and siblings are interred in Canby cemetery. His mother (a Reissner) had an aversion to red soil, given a difficult early life on her family's farm with poor, red soil in Yamhill County before moving to the Bell Road farm. She asked not to be buried at Pleasant Hill because of the red soil. Hence, the break with the established Baker Family plots at PVC.
