Tony C. Gladney, 63, resident of Hillsboro

Tony C. Gladney, 63, of Hillsboro, Ore.,died Sunday afternoon, Oct. 19, 2003, at the Hillsboro Rehab and Specialty Care in Hillsboro.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Tony Charlie Gladney was born March 26, 1948, in Wellington, Texas. He was one of four children born to John and Nora (Gollighugh) Gladney. He was raised and received his education in Wellington.

Tony joined the U.S. Navy on May 11, 1959. He was honorably discharged on July 26, 1985, in Meridian, Miss., with the rank of Chief Petty Officer.

He was united in marriage to Cora Sue Hughes on Oct. 1, 1976 in Seattle, Wash. Following their marriage they made their home in the Seattle area until 1979 when they traveled overseas to follow his career in the U.S. Navy.

In 1982 they moved to Meridian, Miss. In 1985 they made their Oregon home in Hillsboro.

Tony had a career with the U.S. Navy as a Storekeeper (warehouseman) for 26 years. He retired in 1985 from the navy and began working for Pacific Office Automation in Portland, Ore., as a warehouse manager. He retired in 1996 because of health reasons.

Among his special interest he enjoyed fishing, football, and watching movies. He also enjoyed reading and camping trips with his family.

He is survived by his wife Cora "Sue" Gladney of the family home in Hillsboro; his two sons and their spouses, Stephen and Rebecca Gladney of Hillsboro and Scott and Denise Gladney of North Plains, Ore.; two children from a previous marriage, Tammy Riggio and Curt Gladney; a mother-in-law, Irene Hughes of Forest Grove; two sisters and their spouses, Juanita Farnsworth of Wentworth, N.H., Billi Sharon and Bill James of Lajunta, Colo.; one brother and his spouse, John L. and Jo Gladney of Longview, Texas, and one grandson, Valek Gladney of Hillsboro.

Obituary notes:
Irene enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, playing cards and traveling with her brother Felix.  Irene was also an avid Yankees fan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie, a son, Alan, and a son-in-law, Tony Gladney.
She is survived by four children:  Lee, Becky (husband Ron), Sue and Fran; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
