Obituary:  Dorothy Anne St. Clair (May 23, 1931 - July 17, 2011)

Dorothy Anne (Stenek) St. Clair was born on May 2nd, 1931 in Portland, OR and died July 17th, 2011 in nearby Tigard. She grew up in the Tigard/Sherwood area and graduated from Sherwood High School. Dorothy married the love of her life, George St. Clair, on St. Patrick’s Day in 1951 at St. Francis Catholic Church, and was a lifetime member of St. Anthony’s Church in Tigard. Dorothy loved her home and her family. She had multiple talents, which she put to use in her kitchen and her garden. She was an avid flower and vegetable gardener and was an active participant in various garden clubs. She was always seeking plant starts and seeds—even at 80 years of age she could tell you where she got every single plant in her amazing garden. Dorothy loved to dance, and was a longtime member of the Suburban 8s Square Dance Club. She also loved to swim, which she did for exercise for most of her life. She was very social and enjoyed playing cards and sharing incredible homemade meals with friends and family. Her pies, cookies and breads were heavenly. Dorothy loved traveling and camping and experiencing new places. She created a lovely life for herself and her family. Dorothy is survived by the three children she had with George: James, Christine (husband David Hannegan) and Kirk (wife Sheila Burgess). She is further survived by her five grandchildren: Jennifer Venne, Laura St. Clair, Brenda St. Clair, Graham Hannegan and Leah Hannegan. In addition she was a great-grandmother to Emma Venne, Reece Venne, Austin St. Clair and Bailey St. Clair. There will be a Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 28th at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Tigard, followed by a Celebration of Life at River Meade Community Park.
